I visited Truk Lagoon for the first time in September 1999. Then I made second trip there inNovember 2002. World's mecca for wreck divers.

Truk Lagoon, lies about 630 miles Southeast of Guam. Some one hundred wrecks to dive for.... All of them sunk in February 1944 during operation Hail Storm.

Large number of Japanese crew still on the bottom of the lagoon. Also large number of unexploded torpedoes, military vehicles and Japanese zeroes.
On the way up from a deep dive, several safety stops are required. One way of killing time is making air bubbles.
On deck of most wrecks you'll find Japanese Zero's, unexploded torpedoes, skulls of crew men an even unopened bottles of wine.
In the fuselage of a bomber
unexploded torpedoes.
Bottles of wine. Still unopened.
I have dove many shipwrecks in Truk Lagoon. Among others, Sankisan Maru, San Francisco Maru.
All dives are relatively short since I was diving no deco.
A one man tank on deck of San Francisco Maru at 160 feet.
A wreck of "Betty Boop" bomber under about 30 feet of water
Plenty of amo, wine bottles, airplane parts on those wrecks.
And of course remains of Japanese crew that went down during Operation Hail Storm in February 1944. Amazingly most people I talked to never heard of this part of history.
